Emily started her career back in 2010 working in an NHS MSK contract and as a part time associate in private practice.
In 2014 while working for the Ministry of Defence and consulting for a Professional Football Club she decided to set up her own clinic that would provide a world class MSK podiatry service using the latest technology.
However, the bank wouldn’t lend her any money at the time so she leased a space above a GP surgery, and kitted it out with mostly “pre loved” equipment and founded Active Step Foot & Ankle Clinic, which offered a full range of podiatry services.
Fast forward to today, Active Step now resembles the world class clinic Emily envisioned. Built from the ground up, the clinic now employs a small team of Podiatrists and supporting Administrators and Emily has now transitioned into a business leader in her practice allowing her the time and freedom to offer mentoring and support to other practice owners.
In this capacity, Emily has spoken at several conferences on private practice development and is currently authoring her first book which aims to support practice owners with building “Robust and Resilient” businesses in the face of an uncertain future. The launch date is Spring 2022.
Emily also hosts a chat for clinic owners on the new Clubhouse App, where she curates a line up of expert speakers every week who discuss topics around practice growth and development.
She is also about to launch a new Podcast called “Practice Resilience”in May where she will be interviewing the outliers in private practice who have broken the mould and demonstrated resilience in a variety of innovative ways during the pandemic.
