Rajiv Limaye
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Mr Rajiv Limaye works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in trauma, knee arthroscopy and surgery of the foot and ankle. His service is based in the Darlington and Stockton on Tees, covering a large area of North Yorkshire and North-East England. Mr Rajiv Limaye works as Lead Foot/Ankle surgeon at University hospital of North Tees and Hartlepool since April 2014. Prior to this he was a Consultant at South Tees University hospital between 2005- 2014, specialising in Foot and Ankle surgery.
Mr Limaye has gained extensive Orthopaedic surgery experience since 1990 and has worked in various hospitals during his training in both India and UK. He later gained fellowship level training in Foot and Ankle surgery in the UK and abroad. He then has been working as NHS consultant since 2005. Rajiv’s special interest lies in bunion surgery, arthroscopic (key hole) surgery to foot and ankle for sports injuries, ankle osteotomy and replacements of the big toes.
In addition to his clinical appointments, Mr Limaye holds a place in the court of examiners for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh. He assists in MRCS and FRCS Orth examinations both nationally and internationally. He currently examines in London, Edinburgh, Egypt, India, Cyprus, UAE, Sri Lanka and Kenya. He has been invited to some new centres such as Malaysia and Cyprus. Mr Rajiv Limaye has been a past trainer in northern orthopaedic training rotation. He now hosts a nationally accredited BOA foot/ankle fellow. He holds a position of a revalidation lead and a clinical audit lead at the North Tees Hospital and regularly appraises junior doctors and colleagues. He examines the final year medical students for the Newcastle medical school. The University of Teesside has recognised his teaching roles and conferred upon on him the title of Honorary Lecturer since 2011.
