Lecturer Sport & Exercise Biomechanics

Aoife is a Lecturer of Sport & Exercise Biomechanics at Ulster University. Her area of research is clinical biomechanics, focusing on therapeutic footwear, mobility assistive technology, gait analysis and plantar pressure measurement. She also has an interest in policy development and telehealth. She is an Education and Practice Development Consultant for the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists.

Therapeutic Footwear: Exploring the Evidence

The presentation will examine the latest scientific evidence on therapeutic footwear, focusing on footwear for children and people with diabetes. It will provide definitions for different groups of therapeutic footwear for children and discuss the design characteristics of stability footwear, along with exploring the latest research and international footwear guidelines for people with diabetes.
