Dr Sally Abey
Associate Professor of Podiatry (Education)
Sally has been a lecturer at the University of Plymouth since September 2005. Prior to this, she was a clinician with a specialist interest in paediatrics. Shortly after joining the University, she undertook her PhD in the area of clinical education, working collaboratively with a local placement provider.
Sally has a number of publications relating to practice-based learning and e-learning and has presented her research internationally. She has used this expertise to develop two innovative distance learning degree apprenticeship at BSc and MSc level. These programmes have national reach, and will create a network of podiatry apprentices throughout England. More recently as Academic Lead and Associate Head of School for Marketing and Admission, Sally has worked with her team to raise the profile of podiatry and the podiatry programme within the Southwest. As Dean of Education for the College of Podiatry, she leads the Directorate of Education providing support and expert advice in respect of educational matters.
